I was on the development team, then the integration team and then the installation team (it was a big deal to be invited into each phase of the project). I was invited to be on the maintenance team but I declined. It would have meant moving to. and spending the rest of my career supporting that one single project. My buddies on the project who took the maintenance invitation have done just that, they are still supporting the same bloody piece of software 15 years later. Granted it's a very important project, a very important piece of software but it's the same thing for 15 years ! My god, I've done so much in that amount of time. I couldn't even imagine it. Come to think of it I guess I used to date that way too. :-) So I'm glad to read that others have the similar job-satisfaction thresholds.
